In the first half of the 1970s, many sports shops would carry a range of airguns.  I remember a couple that were local to me.  One had a rack of Webleys - Mk.IIIs, Hawks, Falcons, Jaguars, plus a couple of Milbros.  The other was more BSA orientated - Airsporters, Meteors and a Mercury.  (I always wanted a Mk.III, but ended up with the Mercury).  A bit further afield, was probably the complete range of Relums.  German rifles were a rarity, as was anything 'exotic' - in other words, anything not a break-barrel/underlever springer.

A few years later there was a revolution.  The birth of the dedicated airgun press (and German airguns and German pellets and 1"-tube scopes and mail order air rifles that weren't Relums and Venom).  Whatever you may think of the early comics, there's no denying that whether or not they started that revolution, they certainly gave it a good boot in the right direction.  And in this heyday, the spring was still king.

I'm sure that those of you that go back that far (and some), can relate to the above and are likely to have fond memories of those old springers - and still prefer a mainspring at the heart of their airguns.  Well, The Springer Lounge is just for you.  With all the talk of pneumatic this and pneumatics that, plus the rise of CO2, here's a sanctuary for those who feel that recoilless(er) leaves them cold, come and sign up...

And if you disagree with the 'pneumatics leave me cold' bit, you've probably clicked on the wrong link.... Wink
