Hi
I have just stripped down my 900 and made a sleeve liner to hopefully reduce some of the twang, the spring now slides nice and smooth into the piston. My question should there be a slip washer in the piston before the spring i did look for one but but could not see one it could of been stuck inside,
So i rebuilt my 900, home made plastic sleeve into piston then spring followed by the two washers and spring guide is that right thanks for you advice

john

Hi,

ideally you need the following sequence:-  liner into piston - it should have little tabs on folded into the center at the bottom end. Then a polished washer on top of those little tabs to keep the liner in place. Then the spring. Then another polished washer and then the spring guide. Polished washers each end of the spring (which has flattened and polished ends) allow the spring to rotate reducing the torque effect on firing.

Hope that helps.

Check the power after doing this work!

Hi,
sometimes extra washers are used at the spring guide end to increase pre-load on the spring  - up to a point increasing spring load increases power (and recoil and often harshness in the shot cycle). Too many washers and the spring will bind and the rifle not cock.

You still need a polished washer at the piston end as per my first reply. AND check the power after any work if the rifle is not on FAC.
